Dixie Cola
03.28.06 (1:58 am)   [edit]
This tin sign is a copy of a real advertisement, probably from the '40s or '50s. It's on the wall in our dining room, and I was just looking at it tonight and thought, "Ain't that pretty? I oughtta show my friends." I sure wish this cola was still around. I might've liked it even better than Dr Pepper! And the best thing about it? It never surrenders...! It's my favorite of our numerous tin signs and old advertisements.

Dixie Cola

I wanted to find out more about it, and did a search for "dixie cola", but only got results for Dixie Coca-Cola bottling plant, and I don't think it's the same thing. It's just a regular Coca-Cola plant that happens to be in Dixie, but it ain't Dixie Cola. I also did an image search for it and got this cute little advertisement (it was on a t-shirt site). I love the '40s style of it!

Love the Dixie Cola ad - strangely noble! And love Ms Rebel - cute but not overtly sexual.

And I've a similar illustration to the 2nd pic which I'll send you - it's from an old edition of "1940's Hairstyles". Wonder if it's by the same graphic artist?

Incidently, since you couldnt find much on Dixie Cola and have posted these pics you're blog will now come top of the search whenever someonelse does the same thing!LOL!

PC.

I remember Dixie Cola. It was distributed by Pepsi in the 1950's & early 60's. The last time I had it was as a small child in 1963. It was already on the way out then, sadly. It also was bottled as orange and grape soda.

Where did you find the tin sign repro? I'm looking for one! Email hallcm@earthlink.net if you have a vendor!

I'll drop you an email, I believe we got it from a "Desperate Enterprises" catalog.

I am from South Africa, and of late I have been thinking about the Dixie Cola that was sold there until the late '60s, and how nice it was. I would love to taste it again, but I suppose it's just another thing that will not occur.
