Great scott!
03.12.06 (2:38 am)   [edit]

We just got home from Orlando a few hours ago, I'm SO DANGED TIRED and my feet are killlllllllling me. But we had fun. We stayed at Caroline's place and I slept on the couch, Dad was on the floor on a blow-up mattress next to me, and Darrell got the bedroom. The first night was AWFUL for me because I wasn't used to going to bed that early (even though I got 2 hours of sleep the night before we left), the couch was a bit firm and about five inches shorter than would be comfortable, and her apartment is literally 50 feet from the train tracks (maybe a little more. Heck, maybe a little less). I think 6 or 7 trains went by the first night, I lost count.

On the first day, we drove up, had a BBQ lunch with Caroline and her boyfriend, then Dad built a wooden table for her business. Then we had dinner at Bennigan's and went back to her apartment.

We went to Universal Studios the second day and I was reeeeeeeally really stoked to go on the Back to the Future ride again, seeing as I'm in love with those movies once more. That's one of the things that stands out from the trip for me. The ride itself isn't the best there, but it really is cute and fun. And there's... lots of footage of the Doc, shot especially for the ride. Heh. Yeah, he was the main reason I had to go on it. In the BTTF store, I found a Dukes of Hazzard shirt on sale with the entire cast and the General Lee on it (dunno why THAT was there? I guess it was because of the car? They sold stuff from other movies and shows that had cool cars in them), and an old-fashioned blue t-shirt with "weathered" graphics that has the DeLorean on it and says "Take me.... Back To The Future, Universal Studios". Also got a little diecast model of the DeLorean....it's so adorable. It's about 7 inches long, both doors open, and it's very detailed. The little flux capacitor is in there with the time circuts, and Mr. Fusion is even on the back! Some guy was walking around near the outside of the ride dressed up and acting like Doc Brown but he didn't look enough like him for me to go nuts, and, the hair was terribly fake. They played ZZ Top's "Double Back" while we were waiting in line, that was nice. We rocked out.

Not far from the E.T. ride, we saw two people dressed like Zorro and Elena. Dad and Darrell were drooling over the gal (she WAS gorgeous, methinks prettier than Catherine Zeta-Jones), and I almost went nuts over the guy. He touched the brim of his hat at me and greeted me in a really sexy voice saying something romantic in Spanish. Then he offered me his arm and I had Caroline take my picture with them with the cell phone, but it turned out really dark and blurry - our facial features aren't very distinguishable. I saw Zorro again tonight - he was in the crowd and walked by. I was about to grab him and plant one on him before he could react but I chickened out.

Let's see... All the other rides were awesome as ever. Twister will always be a favorite, as well as Terminator 3D and The Mummy. Oh my gosh, there was this guy that worked at The Mummy ride that was cracking me up so bad. He leaned over me to make sure Caroline's lap-bar was secure and did this mummy roar at her as he did so. I started laughing SO hard, it was so random and out of the blue! I was like, "Do it again!" but he just glared at me and walked away (but you knew he was being like that on purpose). Then, as the ride car started moving forward, he ran up along the side and did it at me again and made me jump halfway out of the seat. We saw him again today and he was making that noise to people waiting in line - scared the socks off of one girl. I was laughing like an idiot.

At the end of the second day we went back to the apartment and got settled in for the evening. Darrell was watching TV and found that Saving Private Ryan was on. I went in the bathroom and took a shower, and when I came out........ I found Dad and Darrell in bed together watching the movie. Omg. I just stood there in shock then started laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. I know they're not....yeah, like that, and I knew Dad just wanted to watch the movie (it's one of our favorites) and that there was nowhere else to sit in the room, but.......still. Heh. Dad and Darrell. In bed together. I wish I'd thought to take a picture of it, but they'd have killed me!

Third day....um....that's today, we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and headed on over to Islands of Adventure. Went on most of the rides and shows there, had a great time. We went on Jurassic Park - it was really great this time because we hadn't gone on it the previous two times we were up there because it was chilly out and some people (Prancing Paddy) are too scared to get a little bit wet when it's in the 60s out. Ha. Anyway, since we hadn't been on it in so long, it was really awesome. There's a show in the park called "Poseidon's Fury" that has to do with Greek mythology and whatnot, it's REALLY cool. The guide guy led us all into one room and warned us, "...but don't touch anything, Doctor So-And-So warned us that anything could be booby-trapped!!" So I strode up to him and touched him in the arm and waited for something to happen. He stared at me for a moment and said, "Ohhhhhh no, we'll have to watch out for this one!!"

We pretty much did everything at Islands by 4 in the afternoon and decided to go back to Universal for a bit. Went on Twister, The Mummy, Men in Black, and Terminator again. Happy times are these. Oh I forgot to say, I'd been constipated for a few days and we had dinner at Cracker Barrel (we went three times in two days) on the second day (confused yet?), and I ordered this awesome chili salad in hopes it would.... get the clog out. And let me tell you, it sure did. I was fartin' all night and today. Still feeling the effects of them beans!! Sure was good though... I felt the need to mention that. I mean, you know, it's good to talk about things and let it all out once in a while. Hey have you ever farted so hard your back cracked?

Right-o then, I'm off to bed now. I'm utterly pooped and the screen is getting blurry and I think I hear Josée's wolves howling at me... Good gosh, I have at least 200 emails to catch up on. All this in THREE. DAYS. Sheesh. Michael, I'll be emailing you!! And I'll respond to your comments tomorrow or the day after.... falling asleep here....

I'm so happy I got my DeLorean. I'm seriously stoked about it, I just love it! Now I need to get a General Lee, and the Bandit's Trans Am, then I'm all set.
All right, seriously, going to sleep now. NO WAIT. I almost forgot!! The picture of Rickey that I mentioned a couple posts back? I came home to it sitting in the mailbox tonight. He's gorgeous... can't wait to scan it and no doubt make a wallpaper of it.

Okay, that's it this time.

I notice you've got a quote from Larry the Cable Guy's new movie. There's NO WAY it will be a good film. I'll rent it when it comes out, though. :o)

I'm glad you had a great time and are now...unclogged. :o)

Heh.... ya know, a LONG time ago when the one in Fort Pierce was the closest one, we used to make a day of it and drive ALLLLLL the way up there for a mid-day lunch, then come home. We used to drive to TN every year (now we fly), and we'd hit all the Cracker Barrels on the road for lunch and dinner, sometimes breakfast if the hotels didn't have it.

Very sorry you can't meet us for dinner, how about y'all just come to the house? We're not far from you at all. I'd rather not say where on here though, I'll give you a call and we can hook up on the weekend if that's good for you!
