Well...
02.23.06 (2:43 pm)   [edit]

I've done gone and made myself a new friend. A little black cat with yellow eyes. It's a girl, short-hair, fairly young (maybe a year or two), and SO sweet. Something just told me to look out back at the sunset last night (which I rarely do on impulse like that, but the light coming through the blinds was gold and pink so I knew it'd be beautiful), so I looked out the window, and I see this little dark shape sitting on the fence. I went out and started talking to her and called her to come closer - she was reeeeeally shy at first but finally came down and let me pet her.... then sat in my lap.... and let me pick her up..... let me hug her too..... now she's really friendly.

She reminds me SO much of Kitten except that she's pure black, very slender, and short-haired. And smaller, but she meows a lot like Kitten and is just as sweet! Same beautiful eyes. Dad didn't want to get attached to any cat again for a while and was acting very unsure, but... well, men turn into soft baby girls when a little cat's around. He warmed up to her after a bit. He was like "Well.......you are cute..." and took a knee and pet her for a bit.

She even sweet-talked us into feeding her tuna in the hopes she'll come back. I really like her.. I've been asking God to bring one to us like He did the first time, and I always added ...and I'm hoping for another black one...

But we just met the thing; she has no collar on and I've never seen her before. We'll see!! I haven't seen her today yet, I'm sure she'll be back. Dad asked me last night, "Do you wish she had a little bit of white on her?" and I said no, because I don't want a cat that looks just like Kitten did. This little cat even ACTS like her though. She has the same antics, ya know? She sits there with the constant, twitching tail; grooms herself the same way (hard to explain, but she does a couple things Kitten did whilst licking herself that I've not seen many other cats do), and a few other things that are reminiscent...

I didn't want one that looked like Kitten, but I did want a black one - they've always been my favorite. Black or black and white cats always have the sweetest temperment and are very friendly. And no, they don't bring bad luck. ...when the black cats cross the trail, Lord, now they come in pairs of two... misery times two!

I haven't been able to take a picture of her yet, but I searched around online for pictures of black cats and she looks almost exactly like this one, except her legs are longer and her tail is REALLY long. When she's standing up, the tip touches the ground - reminds me of my aunt's cat, Ozzy. Y'all pray she comes back... maybe she'll be the one. I miss having that third presence in the house, it gets lonely 'round here.

I can't wait to see her when you take pics. I'm sure, after the tuna, she'll be back. It'd be great if you got another animal. It really is the best way to get over the loss of a pet!

If I take pictures with the cell phone it won't be great quality, but I sure will! I just hope she's not a pet that snuck out of her house or something, and when she went back they locked her inside. I always think like that.

When I was sitting there with her in my lap, it was the first time I could talk about Kitten without getting misty-eyed or depressed.

That's really sweet. I agree with ae, she'll be back. I know what you mean about not wanting her to be exactly like Kitten.
