Time to put my boots out in the street, missy
02.10.06 (6:59 pm)   [edit]
Finally got me some cowboy boots. I can't tell you how happy I am!! They're Dad's gift for my 20th. I've been wanting some for so long, but they were always so expensive; I couldn't get them online because I didn't know what size I was and HAD to be able to try them on first. I'm size 8 1/2 EE in mens'.

The ones I got are Durango Carvello Gold Mens' 11" Brush Off Boots - "These handsome, unique Western boots from Durango have great detailing. Smooth brushed leather upper in an 11 inch cowboy boot style, with a tapered, rounded toe, engraved metal toe and heel rand plates, and stitched seam accents. Contrast colored shaft, fancy instep and all over shaft stitching detail. Dual top pull on straps, smooth leather lining, cushioned insole. Smooth flat outsole, 1 3/4 inch tapered cowboy boot heel."

I wanted mens' because I'm not as fond of ladies' cowboy boots - they're too pointed or something... I also think they'd be too narrow for my wide feet. The boots were originally $139.95 but were on sale for $99.95!! They're absolutely gorgeous, EXACTLY what I wanted. I love the colors and the toe and heel guards... and the detail is awesome.

We got them at Grifs Western ("How the West is Worn!"), and some random drunk guy was also there trying on boots and told me how great they looked on me and what an awesome choice they were. Then he was like "All RIGHT man!!" and shook both our hands and stumbled off with his wife... she was sober and looked a bit fed up with him. It was really funny though... he was dancing all around and singing "These boots are made for walkin'..!!!" and a Toby Keith song - I can't remember which one...

I would never have thought cowboy boots would be so SLIPPERY, but the soles are leather so it makes sense. The salesgirl told me they'll lose the slipperiness once I wear them out a few times and scuff up the bottoms normally. It's gonna take a while to get used to them, the feel of them whilst walking, the pointedness of the toes... but that's okay, they're just awesome.

Aren't they beautiful??
