I wait til the last minute on ebay too! :D ~* Kelly ^_^ posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.22.06 (9:45 pm) Reply to: Kelly Thank ya ma'am!! You got too... or not only will somebody out-bid you, if you bid early in the auction you risk driving the price up yourself! Plus, waiting 'til the last moment gives you a little adrenaline rush... and when you win it, you throw your arms up and give out a rebel scream. ....or...um...I do, anyway. Heh. posted by: michael (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (9:25 am) congrats Mal on your new rock star pick!!Reminds me of my first which was way before there was an e-bay and I guess I kinda got it the old fashion way.....I dove for it!!!Yep,..Right into a big pile of people just like at a baseball game!!I came out victorious and it shure felt good.So congratulations again and hopefully this will be the first in many good things to come your way.....Michael...P.S.The pick was from Dave Hlubeck of Molly Hatchet in 1978. posted by: michael (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (11:23 am) P.S.S......Let's not forget Larkin Allen Collins Jr.today who left us 16 years ago today 1/23/90.We miss you Allen!! posted by: michael (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (11:05 pm) Is this for real? http://www.jimmievanzant.com/images/Image20.jpg posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (11:36 pm) Reply to: michael When I read this, the only thing I could picture were the Three Stooges diving for a quarter somebody had dropped! "I came out victorious" HEHEE awesome for you!! I love Molly Hatchet too, but I'm not as "into" them and don't know much about them. One of their members who recently died lived right on over in Davie, didn't he? I have another pick of Rickey's that I know for a fact is authentic and used! Here's a picture of it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v129/daftanddemented/blog/rickey_pick.jpg The seller told me he caught it himself and told me the concert it was from. It was in Canada when they recently toured with Deep Purple - I looked it up and confirmed it. The concert was on that exact date and sponsered by Direct TV! posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (11:37 pm) Reply to: michael I'd forgotten it was the 23rd until I read your post. Allen we miss you!! posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.23.06 (11:38 pm) Reply to: michael LOL!!!!!! I don't think it's real, just probably some crazy idea for a photo shoot. Ol' Jimmy has a new album in the works! I love that picture, it's hilarious! posted by: Abby (reply) post date: 01.24.06 (7:27 am) COOL! I will get Gary's one day...wishful thinking.. posted by: Michael (reply) post date: 01.24.06 (10:28 am) Hi Mal, That picture like you said is probably a fake but just the irony of it being taken down here(Metro-Dade)just a stones throw is what caught my attention. I am a total southern rock fan.Skynyrd is my favorite as well but I use to go to all the different southern rock bands shows at the time and still do.I dont go to as many shows as I used to but I still love all the southern rock and Skynyrd will always be on the top of the list for me.I can tell ya quite a bit about Molly Hatchet.I dont know as much about them as I do Skynyrd but still am a very big fan.Danny Joe Brown(8/24/51-3/10/05) was the original lead singer of the band and was on all of the bands best and well known albums. He also fronted his own band "The Danny Joe Brown"Danny is from Florida,And yes he had a lot of kin down are way.His mom is the one that you are refering to.Danny was staying down here when he died and was with his mother who lives out in Davie. They held services in both Hollywood(on Hollywood Blvd) and Cooper City(on Stirling Road). He finally came to rest in your home town of Fort Lauderdale. He is buried at the Lauderdale Memorial Gardens.I did not think it would be wise to knock on his mom's door during thier time of grief but instead opted to leave a card in the mail box from all of us..The Fans!Danny's mom is not far from my own mothers house and I knew where the house was...........Michael posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.24.06 (11:02 pm) Reply to: Abby Hey chickie, do you have an eBay account? I've seen a lot of Gary picks on there!! You've just got to pray that the auction price doesn't go too high :o/ Used picks usually go quite a bit higher. I found one, but it's "mint condition" which is unused I'm sure. http://cgi.ebay.com/LYNYRD-SKYNYRD-Gary-Rossington-guitar-pick-picks_W0QQitemZ7583022021 Here's another one! http://cgi.ebay.com/LYNYRD-SKYNYRD-PICK-PICKS-GUITAR-GARY-ROSSINGTON_W0QQitemZ7583506364 posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 01.24.06 (11:16 pm) I thought the "Metro-Dade" was ironic too, wonder why they picked down here, and not Jacksonville or somethin? Or Las Vegas - I think Jimmie lives in Nevada... unless I'm thinking things up again. Danny Joe Brown! That was him. I knew Molly Hatchet, or most of the bandmembers, are from FL aren't they? I could tell that by "Gator Country" (one of my favorites!). Have you met his mother? I read a news article not long ago online that said Danny had lived in Davie, but I guess whoever wrote that was mixed up too. I almost saw Molly Hatchet on 3/12/05 - they were playing at Universal's CityWalk the same night (and right after) Skynyrd was at Universal Studios. I wanted to see them, but Dad and the friends I we were with were all dead tired (it was past 10pm and we'd been walking the parks all day) and they misunderstood me as to where the concert exactly was. On top of that, I didn't know much about Hatchet and knew none of their songs, so that's why I didn't push it. But now I sure wish I had :o( Mal posted by: Michael (reply) post date: 01.25.06 (6:30 am) I think DJB and a lot of his family lived in our area of Florida at one time and still do.But are originally from Jacksonville,at least DJB(and Molly Hatchet) was.I never have met his mom but I do know where she lives....Wanna Go???I will give you the address......Michael posted by: Abby (reply) post date: 01.27.06 (12:13 pm) Actually I dont. My dad dont like Skynyrd so even if I did...he dont like long hair and rock n roll. posted by: Abby (reply) post date: 01.27.06 (12:15 pm) Actually I dont. I know how you feel actually. Dad loves it just as much as I do *NOW*, but he used to not like rock very much, and he HATED long hair on men. He still doesn't love it, but it doesn't bother him as much - he's used to me ranting and raving about the long-hairs!! The first long-hair I liked was Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean, so Dad's had a while to get used to it.. ;o) |
