Can't believe it's been 4 years. I feel like so many of us have long ago forgotten it.

The Day America Cried

Jim Peterik ~ Johnny Van Zant

And now we stand as one
Our flags are raised
To remember all who have died
The Day America Cried

In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty
In the torch-light of the land of the free
Lies the burning wreckage of our Fathers' dream
And the souls who've paid with their lives
A nation saw evil in September skies
By some faceless coward who must pay the price
For challenging the spirit of American pride
The Day America Cried

And now we stand as one
Our flags are raised - to hail our heroes
And now the healing starts
We join our hearts - to remember all who have died
The Day America Cried

Now as a calm falls on the skyline
Now as the smoke reveals the sun
Still the fires burn in our memory
This date is etched forever, nine-one-one

At the altar of the chapel of liberty
We light a candle for eternity
And pray that history will never repeat
The Day America Cried

Thanks for posting the lyrics, I'm gonna take a listen to the audio too... it doesn't seem like its been 4 years, it seems like it was just yesterday.

Sometimes it feels like yesterday, yet sometimes it feels like sooo long ago. It's the same with my mom... weird.

Did you like the song? Most of it was sung by Johnny Van Zant (of Skynyrd). I think the other guy's voice is Jim Peterik, but I'm not positive!
