Firstly, I made this. I'm really not quite sure what it is, but I made it and it was a lot of fun and it's kinda cool...

Daft & Demented ....orb...thing

Secondly, after searching for ages for a font with any similarity to the Lynyrd Skynyrd logo, I found a couple. They're both here, "Ruben" and "Ravenscroft", and are actually based on fonts used for Disney's Haunted Mansion, but it's the closest thing I've found and I'm stoked.

Thirdly, I've found two dinosaurs on eBay which I've been searching for, for YEARS. A Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect Paradeinonychus, and Toysmith's Protoceratops. These are the only two dinosaurs not in my collection that I've had a lot of trouble finding, so once they get here, my collection is complete until the next Jurassic Park! So once again, I'm stoked.

Fourthly, a couple things that A.E. sent me that really make me laugh. Conan is an alligator, and Litterbox.

Fifthly, today is Donnie Van Zant's birthday. He's 53, happy birthday Donnie!

And sixthly (that's a word, right?), I watched Steven Spielberg's new miniseries on TNT last night, Into The West, and I absolutely love it. I've been enthralled by Native Americans, the West, the settlers, etc, ever since third or fourth grade. It was only the first episode of six, but I was totally captured by it and I'm very excited that something good about the Indians and settlers has finally been made. Matthew Settle from HBO's Band of Brothers stars in it as Jacob Wheeler.
I'm not sure if he's just in the first episode, but a guy named Josh Brolin portrayed a real trapper by the name of Jedediah Smith, "a legendary mountain man who opened up the deep West to trappers". I ....really liked him. I'm not sure what it was. He played the part well, and somehow reminded me of Sam Elliot in Gettysburg. He's very stern, with a rough voice, tough, and read from the Bible a bit. He and Wheeler were trapped in a cave, Wheeler started freaking out screaming and crying, so Smith kicked him in the face, told him to shut up, and started reciting Jonah's prayer. I think that was my favorite part...

Jedediah Smith

That's it.

So I finally caught the first part of the episode. Btw, Wheeler SCREAMED in the cave! OMG. LOLOL I didn't laugh until he SCREAMED for his mama. :o) Man-up, Nancy! I can see why you liked Brolin's character, though. There's something very LS and BB about him. It's the hair and the beard, especially. :o)

Oh, PS, I enjoyed the first episode also. I didn't buy for ONE second that Matthew Settle was younger than Josh Brolin (and I'm pretty sure they're about the same age), so Brolin calling him "Boy" or whatever got old fast. And, Matthew doesn't look 17...not even for one second. He plays young well, but 17? No freakin' way.

PS-2...I was right. Brolin's only 5 months older than Settle!

LOLOL then Brolin kicked him in the face! I almost fell out of the chair, I was in heaven man.

Yeah, Matthew's fully developed and...17?? what the crap?? They should've at least started out when he was *20* - 17 is just pushing it.

Brolin looked totally LS and BB, it was the hair and the rough voice (that rough voice is the only way I could stand him calling Wheeler "boy")

What'd you think of Brolin and the grizzly bear...that freaked me out. But I enjoyed seeing Wheeler crying as he stitched him up, and Brolin's just calmly reading his Bible and wincing a bit.

Well, Wheeler deserved the kick to the face at that point. I mean "MAMAAAA"?! In any case, if he *was* 17, and it was the first time he'd been fired on, nearly killed, and killed someone, I'm sure it was rough on him. Still, the kick was needed.

The bear-ripping-skull scene was kinda rough. I remember going "EW!" And, yeah, Brolin calling him "boy" over and over was just baaarely tolerable, mostly because of how *old* Matthew is. Ahem.

Oh, and I thought the way you never see Smith again was dumb. I mean, he's dominated this kid's life for at least a year, and suddenly in a puny voice over we get, "We went our separate ways" ?! What? That's it? No goodbye scene or anything? Ugh.

"Still, the kick was needed." HAAAHHAA

The bear thing...it....yuck. Let's just say I was cringing and shutting my eyes a lot.

I hope he might run into Smith again in a later episode..? I was thinking that myself, what the crap kind of parting was that? They could at least show them saying goodbye or shaking hands, so as not to confuse people. I didn't hear Matthew's voice-over say that the first time, Smith was just suddenly gone and I had no idea what happened.
