I had a lovely dream this morning..........Donnie Van Zant was our neighbor (don't hyperventilate yet, Abby!!). I can't remember the entire dream, but it was all really complicated and I don't know what the first half was about. I remember that our friend Tom called up and left a message about water bottles being on sale at Costco or something. Then Dad ordered a "pump" for the lawnmower or something (I know it makes no sense) and some guy in a MONSTER TRUCK delivered it (and somehow he parked this MONSTER right in front of our door. I mean literally, we opened the front door and the thing's tires were right there. He almost hit our SUV and Dad was upset at the guy but paid him and made him leave).
Anyway... Apparently, Donnie lived just two doors to the north of us (and I'd never met him until now..), and I saw him walk outside to his car (which was some old white and turquoise beat up thing from the 50s) with all his luggage, and I freaked out screaming his name, ran over to him and was like "DONNIE? OH MY GOSH. CAN I HUG YOU??" He was really nice and said "Haha, yeah sure!" so I hugged him and asked where he was going, "On the road for a bit.", "How long?", "Oh, about a week and a half.", "That's not too bad."
Then...his hat somehow fell off while he was putting his stuff in the car and I was like "Oh.........omg........can..... can I touch your hair?" Heh. He let me........it was soft......I remember feeling it..... Then he started asking me if I'd listened to the so-and-so album yet (which I'd never heard of, but assumed it must've been a new album by .38 Special). I said I hadn't but that I was working on it because I'd just bought Van Zant's first two albums and couldn't afford .38's new one yet. He totally understood, but he had to get going so I hugged him again and ran back home (which was a bit of a hassle because our next-door neighbor's front yard was a giant hill).
My uncle Jeff came over while Dad was edging the lawn, and as Donnie drove by and waved at us, Dad yelled "Bye, Dave!!!", while I was rolling my eyes and mumbling, "It's not Dave, it's DONNIE!!!" Then Jeff started shining a huge spotlight at Donnie's face as he drove away (??? I swear my uncle would do something like that) while I was screaming at him to stop, saying how Donnie had a medical condition that made his eyes sensitive, and I just about tackled Jeff to make him put it away.
Then I woke up. At least the Donnie part was over - I usually wake up right smack-dab when something good is about to happen. I relayed all of this to Prancing Paddy whilst shopping for groceries and he cut me off a couple times with this baffled expression, "How do you remember so many details?!??!!"
I finally updated the website and added all the new junk I mentioned in the previous post!! I've just realized that it's taken me almost 8 hours... Organizing wallpapers, uploading crap, making thumbnails, scanning and editing 40 pictures... I'm about to collapse, but I GOT IT ALL DONE!! The Gatorade must've fueled me.The entire wallpaper section is redone. They're now in 6 categories under "Wallpapers" (doh), with one or two new ones on each page. I've also added 4 new Skynyrd wallpapers (drops down under Skynyrd's page).
I up-.......wait, Van Zant's on the radio, gotta sing along.
........ah, it's over now. I can't, for the life of me, type something when a favorite song is playing. Even if I try, my attention just ZOOMS to the song since I know all the words and every detail of it. And I can't turn it OFF because.... it's Van Zant! Can't turn them off. I turn them on. Bwhahahahahah-.....ahem. Um, yeah.....anyhoo. I requested "Help Somebody" earlier (on KISS Country) and they played it for me, now "Nobody Gonna Tell Me What To Do" just played. They've been playing some great stuff tonight. Marshall Tucker, Hank Jr., Little Big Town, Alabama, Montgomery Gentry, and lots of Gretchen.
ANYWAY. As I was about to say before, I've uploaded 30 new pictures from an airshow back in November, the KISS Country Chili Cookoff (pictures that are hard to make out of Van Zant, Gretchen, and Keith Urban), and a few from last weekend when the Collings Foundation bombers came to our local airport. They're all on the page "FL, 2005/2006", which drops down under "Photo Galleries".
Well, I think that's about it. WAIT, no. I also added ONE new graphic to the "Useless Stuff" page - it's a bottle of Daft & Demented Florida Sour Mash Whiskey (which I spent 3 hours on and don't know why, but I love how it turned out). OH, and, I changed the playlist a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure if I mentioned it here... the first song I've got on there is ZZ Top's "Double Back", their song from Back to the Future. That is all.
Wait, that isn't all. I just wanted to let it be known that tBlog is being retarded lately with the comments box. It wasn't letting A.E. or Josée post comments and an error message kept coming up. I addressed this issue with tBlog's support team and they said it should be resolved soon, but apparently it hasn't. A.E. had to join tBlog in order to post (which is free), so if anybody else is having this problem please just sign up and sign in to tBlog so you can comment!
I'm on a good schedule at the moment...... been going to bed before 11PM and waking up around 8AM. Now, I haven't intended to wake up that early, in fact my alarm clock is set for 10:30AM, but... it just keeps happening. Either I have to go pee, or a truck with a rumbling engine goes down the road, or I just jump awake for no apparent reason. It's so early, very unlike me, and even more unlikely is that when I try to go back to sleep, I usually lay there for over an hour sometimes and just can't!
The good thing though - I've been catching The Dukes of Hazzard almost every morning at 11AM on CMT. It's on again at noon, then at 7PM and midnight - I'm in Hogg heaven! I forgot how great that show was, I love it! Interest renewed. The first episode today was awesome. It was the General Lee's birthday, and they had a "flashback" and showed us how they aquired the General, where he came from, how they souped him up with a nice engine, and why they painted him orange. It was Uncle Jesse's idea to name him General Lee! I usually hate cars, but I ADORE the General. If I was gonna get a car, it'd be that orange-red Dodge Charger, complete with the Dixie horn and Rebel flag on top. And that beautiful sounding engine!! But I'll stick with a pickup truck for now... I love the Duke boys, but Rosco's my favorite. He just makes the show! What would it be if the Dukes had nobody to run from and jump 50 feet in the air over creeks and highways with the General? Rosco's such a dork but I love him. And he's got them classic good looks - I've seen pictures of him in his 30s and....................yeah. Classic actor good looks. Kinda reminds me of James Garner (but better, methinks).
Last weekend, the Collings Foundation bombers were back in town. The B-17, B-24, and B-25 were here - we got to go in all of them too (well, not really go inside the B-15, but they let you look up through the bomb-bay). I looked for our Swedish pilot friend, Caroline, but didn't see her. While we were there, they took off in the B-17 and B-24, giving rides to paying riders. I think Caroline was the pilot in the B-24 (they made her a full pilot now, not just co-pilot), but I have bad distance and couldn't make her out. I took a bunch of pictures which I'll put on my website in the next few days (as well as pictures from the Kiss Country Chili Cookoff - we have to pick up the photos this afternoon). I'm also gonna redo the wallpaper section on D&D... I'll put them into a few different catagories so they'll be more managable and the pages will load faster. I've got a bunch of new ones to add, too, as well as those pictures! I'll post here as soon as I get it all done.
Besides Dukes, my latest love is Back to the Future. I've always loved those movies but I watched them all again recently (okay, so we watched all three of them about five times in a row within a month, not to mention all the times they've aired on TV since then) and I'm in love with them again. They're just the kind of movies you can watch oooooover and over and never want them to end (like Pirates of the Caribbean). They never get old!! Awesome stories, actors who are all perfect for the parts, and an amazing soundtrack. They really are well-done, it's so cool how all three movies tie in with each other so flawlessly. Maybe they'll make another one some day. I wouldn't mind seeing "Doc" Brown again... heh heh. I recently found a sound file of one of my favorite quotes from him, "[If my calculations are correct], when this baby hits 88 miles per hour.... you're gonna see some serious sh*t."
I joined MySpace not long ago. Not that I needed to, I mean, I've already got my website, blogs, and Yahoo 360° - I just felt like something new to fiddle with. It was fun setting up and designing my little page. Plus, a couple of friends wanted me to join. One of them had sent me an invitation which I kept putting off looking at for over two months. I was starting to feel bad about that, so I finally joined up as swamp_music. I've met some interesting people, including a nice little band called Point South (they found me, and told me I rocked. Heh. I dig them though, check them out), as well as a singer who sounds very very much like Danny Joe Brown (of Molly Hatchet) but without DJB's growl and a smoothness reminiscent of Ronnie. It really is interesting how many dudes contact you when you're listed as "single". I'd had a picture of me in my photo album, but promptly removed it because of this. I just wrote in my profile that I'm there to be connected to friends and meet new friends, but I'm not interested in meeting guys there! There's too many weirdos on that site! But like I said, I have met some nice ones too.
Ah, here's something to complain about. Our Walgreen's doesn't have my favorite tea any more, except in the tiny glass bottles in the refrigerated section - I want the JUGS dangitall!! Those little bottles, however cute, are a goshdanged RIPOFF. 99¢ each when the giant jug is about $2.00. Anyway, it's the AriZona No Carb Blueberry Green Tea. I don't give a heck how "healthy" it is, or that it's no carbs, I just love this tea. I could drink a gallon of it in one day (and I have). The peach and white cranapple ones are all right too, but the blueberry is my favorite. It might sound nasty, but it is good, and it doesn't really taste like blueberry to me. It's a lovely color though, a purplish pinkish with a touch of blueness.... very pretty when held up to the light. I don't even think there's blueberry in it, I just saw this... it says "Premium brewed Green tea using filtered water, sorbitol, natural flavors, citric acid, black carrot extract, sucralose, acesulfame potassium." Black carrot? That sounds even stranger!!! After sniffing around on this AriZona site for a bit, I found this here little promotion - a complimentary Buckeye Blake Poster with any order of AriZona Powdered Tea! Check out that poster, I really am digging it! I love the artfulness of it...not to mention it's a cowboy. I just ordered one can of peach powdered tea so I could get the poster. I've never had their powdered tea before - I'm not even sure I've seen it - but I love their regular peach tea, so I'm sure to like it. The little tin it comes in is cute too... (A.E., another trinket! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-ahem).
Oh by the way, Little Black Cat hasn't been here since two nights ago. I sure hope she returns.
I'll wrap this up with some rather nice pictures of Johnny and Donnie. Yeah...
I've done gone and made myself a new friend. A little black cat with yellow eyes. It's a girl, short-hair, fairly young (maybe a year or two), and SO sweet. Something just told me to look out back at the sunset last night (which I rarely do on impulse like that, but the light coming through the blinds was gold and pink so I knew it'd be beautiful), so I looked out the window, and I see this little dark shape sitting on the fence. I went out and started talking to her and called her to come closer - she was reeeeeally shy at first but finally came down and let me pet her.... then sat in my lap.... and let me pick her up..... let me hug her too..... now she's really friendly.
She reminds me SO much of Kitten except that she's pure black, very slender, and short-haired. And smaller, but she meows a lot like Kitten and is just as sweet! Same beautiful eyes. Dad didn't want to get attached to any cat again for a while and was acting very unsure, but... well, men turn into soft baby girls when a little cat's around. He warmed up to her after a bit. He was like "Well.......you are cute..." and took a knee and pet her for a bit.
She even sweet-talked us into feeding her tuna in the hopes she'll come back. I really like her.. I've been asking God to bring one to us like He did the first time, and I always added ...and I'm hoping for another black one...
But we just met the thing; she has no collar on and I've never seen her before. We'll see!! I haven't seen her today yet, I'm sure she'll be back. Dad asked me last night, "Do you wish she had a little bit of white on her?" and I said no, because I don't want a cat that looks just like Kitten did. This little cat even ACTS like her though. She has the same antics, ya know? She sits there with the constant, twitching tail; grooms herself the same way (hard to explain, but she does a couple things Kitten did whilst licking herself that I've not seen many other cats do), and a few other things that are reminiscent...
I didn't want one that looked like Kitten, but I did want a black one - they've always been my favorite. Black or black and white cats always have the sweetest temperment and are very friendly. And no, they don't bring bad luck. ...when the black cats cross the trail, Lord, now they come in pairs of two... misery times two!
I haven't been able to take a picture of her yet, but I searched around online for pictures of black cats and she looks almost exactly like this one, except her legs are longer and her tail is REALLY long. When she's standing up, the tip touches the ground - reminds me of my aunt's cat, Ozzy. Y'all pray she comes back... maybe she'll be the one. I miss having that third presence in the house, it gets lonely 'round here.
I was just ouside putting my sheets in the washing machine, and as I came inside, I passed all of Dad's stuff sitting on the porch, ready to go to work (he's a carpenter/painter). Nothing new, I'm used to seeing the big 12-gallon bucket loaded with saws, drills, paint brushes, rollers and what-not. But when I looked closer, I saw this little red pail. I started to laugh.
And so, I give you, Prancing Patrick's Little Red Pail:
First-round voting is now open for the CMT Music Awards!!! Van Zant has been nominated Group/Duo Video Of The Year and Breakthrough Video Of The Year for "Help Somebody", please vote for them NOW DANGIT! You have to register with CMT in order to vote, but it's free. I sure hope Van Zant makes it to the final nominees.
I voted for...
Video Of The Year: Gretchen Wilson - "All Jacked Up" Brooks & Dunn - "Believe"
Male Video Of The Year: Keith Urban - "Better Life" Kenny Chesney - "Who You'd Be Today"
Female Video Of The Year: Gretchen Wilson - "All Jacked Up" (I really want Gretchen to win, or I'd have also voted for Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood)
Group/Duo Video Of The Year: Van Zant - "Help Somebody" (again, there's a couple other videos in this category that I also love, but I don't want to give Johnny and Donnie any more competition by voting for those also. They would be Brooks & Dunn, Little Big Town, and Montgomery Gentry)
Breakthrough Video Of The Year: Van Zant - "Help Somebody"
Collaborative Video Of The Year: Brad Paisley featuring Dolly Parton - "When I Get Where I'm Going"
Hottest Video Of The Year: Keith Urban - "Making Memories Of Us"
Most Inspiring Video Of The Year: Brooks & Dunn - "Believe"
Video Director Of The Year: Deaton Flanigen, Brooks & Dunn - "Believe"
I hope Brooks & Dunn win Video Of The Year - I absolutely love "Believe". It's such a beautiful song, and the video gives it even more meaning. If Van Zant doesn't win Group/Duo Video Of The Year, I hope Brooks & Dunn get that one too. BUT VAN ZANT HAD BETTER WIN. Much as I love "Believe", it just don't beat "Help Somebody".
I heard "Help Somebody" on the radio today for the first time in a while. I'd just gotten out of the shower and then it started. I was so stoked, I was dancing around my room in my underwear with both my stereos on at the same time with the volume all the way up. Surround sound!!! They play "Nobody Gonna Tell Me What To Do" quite a bit (I always seem to turn the radio on during the middle of that song), and I love that song very much, but I've really been missing "Help Somebody"... KISS Country's DJ Darlene Evans seems to play Van Zant more than the other DJs... maybe 'cause she's a girl. Can ya blame her? I'd be playing them a lot too.
Oh and, just some food for thought - Rickey is REALLY. HOT. That's all I have to say.
"every time i buy something, i like to think i'm one step closer to completing my collection of everything in the world." -Ze Frank
I'll tell Dad that every time I think I need a new lava lamp or string of interesting Christmas lights.... heh.
By the way, Happy Valentine's Day to anybody who's reading this! The holiday doesn't mean a whole lot to me. It's like everybody else is telling you you've got to tell somebody you love them on that particular day, and to me, that takes the meaning out of it. If somebody truthfully and meaningly tells their spouse that they love them every day, Valentine's Day should be no different! People who only tell each other on that particular day and buying expensive gifts for each other are only doing so because they feel they have to, since everybody else is. My Dad thinks the whole thing is a government conspiracy.
This all reminds me, what is WITH women and diamonds?? It seems so superficial to me. To quote Ron White, "Diamonds!.....that'll shut 'er up." Around this time of year you're always seeing a lot more De Beers commercials. Tell her you love her by spending forty-eight hundred dollars on a piece of metal and rock!!! Sheesh. I rarely wear any expensive jewelry, I'm perfectly happy with my little claddagh and the silver one with the pale blue stone that my Mom bought me from Avon. Now THAT ring is priceless to me, and I think it's a lot prettier than expensive gold and diamonds. I wouldn't want a fake wedding band, but I would feelabsolutely awful if my boyfriend was totally broke because of buying something for me me me.
I just saw this headline on the front page of Yahoo! News, "Saddam says he's on a hunger strike" .....LOL. I don't know why that made me laugh so much. I think the guy's a dirty, evil, murderer - who cares if he ain't eating nothing, let the bastard starve to death! There's got to be other news out there that's more worth talking about, let alone putting on the front page of Yahoo.
I'm obviously in a cynical, ranting mood this morning... bear with me, I just woke up. Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry" just came on the radio. I love this song, it's so pretty.
OHH, I've got something positive to talk about: I had a most awesome birthday! Had a couple friends over for a BBQ. Got some great gifts too! The best of course were the cowboy boots from my Dad. I still just can't get over them - I actually OWN cowboy boots now!! He also bought me a flask with a Rebel flag on it, LOL. Darrell bought me a Marines shirt - I KNEW he was gonna do that. He did that on my 18th too. Dangit, GO ARMY!!! I do like it though, it has a silhouette of the 6 Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima on it.
Got some other clothing, bath gel (somebody ALWAYS gets me bath gel. I can count on it Every. Single. Time. Not that I don't like it, but I usually use regular soap. I only use a little bath gel maybe twice a week, so it takes years for me to use just one bottle, and people keep buying it for me so I seem to have a never-ending supply!), and money of course. Got a lovely book from Josée called, Tales From WWII You Probably Never Heard Before - can't wait to start reading that one; new material for the bathroom! Heh. My Grandma got me this adorable little juke-box shaped clock that plays four different songs from Grease on it. The sides light up and flash in time with the music too, it's awesome!! I have a re-newed interest in the '50s lately (I think brought on by Back to the Future - I originally loved it because of Happy Days and American Graffiti - it's also the '50s that I thank for interesting me in rock 'n' roll!). The little clock reminded me of how I LOVE so much of the music in Grease, so I ordered the deluxe soundtrack. There's a lot of great stuff on it. I always loved the songs by Olivia Newton-John, and I was verrry happy to see how many on there are by Sha-na-na - they're awesome. Buncha guys with ducktails, just like The Fonz.
Ugh. Now Rascal Flatts is on the radio. I'm sorry, I just don't like them none too much. They sound like women and the lead singer looks like the kind of guy you just want to slap. I ain't sure why... Well I better wrap this up, gotta go eat breakfast before The Dukes of Hazzard is on.
I FOUND OUT HOW TO CHANGE THE BITMAP IMAGES FOR THE CARD DECKS IN WINDOWS SOLITAIRE. I AM SO COOL.
.....um...yeah. I'll explain. I was so danged SICK of those retarded, fruity default Windows card decks. I was so tired of the little island with the palm trees, the stupid astronaut, the retarded little rubber frog (which is cute, but.....retarded), the rose, and the obviously Photoshopped picture of the desert sand dune with the full moon in the background. This was a problem for me only because I play Solitaire CONSTANTLY. I've always got it open, to give me something to fiddle with while a page is loading or I'm uploading pictures or attaching files to emails. I can't just sit there staring at the screen waiting for it to load.... I just can't. I'll start fidgeting really bad. So, I've now made my own goshdanged deck. Mwuahahaa.
Yes, of course they're Confederate flags, would you expect any less? Heh. Excuse the crude screencapture - the real window looks sharp as ever. I figured there HAD to be a way to do it, somehow. There had to be system files where the bitmaps were stored. So I did a Yahoo Search for "change card deck windows solitaire". I first got this page, where somebody in a forum asked if they could change the deck image in Spider Solitaire (the spider deck is the ONLY option for that game). Somebody replied to their post and recommended using a program called "Resource Hacker" to open the game's .exe file, and replacing the bitmap file with that of your own (just as long as you make your own .bmp the same exact size and file format). I figured it would work with regular Windows Solitaire too, if it worked with Spider! So I opened sol.exe with Resource Hacker and..... there were no bitmap files in it. Bastards.
I then continued searching around online and found this page. Now we're gettin' someplace! I guess the dude on the other site forum figured people like me don't know sh*t from Shinola. Anyway. It explains how, "Windows Cards.dll is located in Windows\System32 folder and is used by several Windows games like Solitaire (sol.exe)."
AHA!! So they're not located in the sol.exe file, but in the Cards.dll file!!! YAY! So I opened THAT file in Resource Hacker and..... lo and behold. There were the bitmap files. I got the exact size, resolution and format of them, and replaced one of the ugliest, most boring ones with the Rebel flag one I'd made myself.
I went through all this trouble and thought it worked, but once I closed Solitaire and opened it again later, my custumized deck was.... gone. Bastards! So I messed with it for a long time, ruined things a couple times (and fixed them), but it kept doing the same thing. I was so frusterated I wanted to pull my hair out. I took a deep breath and did a search for... heck I can't remember what I searched for, but I found a page (on the same forum site that I originally got the information about Resource Hacker from) where somebody was experiencing the same problem as myself, and he asked, "I am using Resource Hacker to change the card backs in Solitaire. I modified the Cards.dll file where the card bitmaps are found, and saved it. Then I closed it out and opened up Solitaire and none of the changes were there. I opened cards.dll back up and it was back to normal. Any ideas???????"
Another guy replied, "Windows File Protection replaces the hacked file with a copy from the 'dllcache' folder. Switch off File Protection, take cards.dll out of the 'dllcache' folder, or copy your hacked .dll to the 'dllcache' folder before you put it anywhere else."
Ah. Makes sense now. SO. I downloaded a handy little program called "Windows File Protection Switcher" and switched it off. Restarted the computer, removed cards.dll from the "dllcache" folder, again made my modifications to the original file and saved them. IT NOW WORKS! VICTORY IS MINE!! This time I replaced ALL the card backs. Here's all the ones I made.
I can now play "Rebel Solitaire". Or, "Skynyrd Solitaire", "Rickey Solitaire", "Van Zant Solitaire" - you get the idea. As Josée would say, "SuperCoolFunTime for ALL!!!" My life will be brightened considerably. All this over a stupid game. Sad, I know, but I feel so accomplished!!!
Finally got me some cowboy boots. I can't tell you how happy I am!! They're Dad's gift for my 20th. I've been wanting some for so long, but they were always so expensive; I couldn't get them online because I didn't know what size I was and HAD to be able to try them on first. I'm size 8 1/2 EE in mens'.
The ones I got are Durango Carvello Gold Mens' 11" Brush Off Boots - "These handsome, unique Western boots from Durango have great detailing. Smooth brushed leather upper in an 11 inch cowboy boot style, with a tapered, rounded toe, engraved metal toe and heel rand plates, and stitched seam accents. Contrast colored shaft, fancy instep and all over shaft stitching detail. Dual top pull on straps, smooth leather lining, cushioned insole. Smooth flat outsole, 1 3/4 inch tapered cowboy boot heel."
I wanted mens' because I'm not as fond of ladies' cowboy boots - they're too pointed or something... I also think they'd be too narrow for my wide feet. The boots were originally $139.95 but were on sale for $99.95!! They're absolutely gorgeous, EXACTLY what I wanted. I love the colors and the toe and heel guards... and the detail is awesome.
We got them at Grifs Western ("How the West is Worn!"), and some random drunk guy was also there trying on boots and told me how great they looked on me and what an awesome choice they were. Then he was like "All RIGHT man!!" and shook both our hands and stumbled off with his wife... she was sober and looked a bit fed up with him. It was really funny though... he was dancing all around and singing "These boots are made for walkin'..!!!" and a Toby Keith song - I can't remember which one...
I would never have thought cowboy boots would be so SLIPPERY, but the soles are leather so it makes sense. The salesgirl told me they'll lose the slipperiness once I wear them out a few times and scuff up the bottoms normally. It's gonna take a while to get used to them, the feel of them whilst walking, the pointedness of the toes... but that's okay, they're just awesome.
It's just past midnight... it's now been exactly a year, to the day, that I fell in love with Rickey Medlocke. I know this because I fell for him the night they aired the Lynyrd Skynyrd Super Bowl Saturday Night Special on CMT last year. It was shown live from Jacksonville, FL, on February 5th - the night before Super Bowl XXXIX!
This was the first time I'd seen him "live". I'd only seen him in pictures before then and thought he looked a bit ....nuts. But then I saw him in action and how cool he was, and how hot he was... heh, yeah. I thought he was just awesome on guitar, then they showed clips of him interviewing sailors and other people reguarding the Super Bowl and Lynyrd Skynyrd trivia. He had the warmest, most beautiful Southern drawl and sounded so nice, and it kind of snowballed for me from there. I can't believe it's been a full year. In that time I've fallen in love with the current Lynyrd Skynyrd band (more so than I was before; originally, I only really liked the old band), as well as Rickey's previous band, Blackfoot.
Many thanks to my friends, especially A.E., for putting up with my endless rants reguarding his .....attractiveness.
Sunday's concert at the KISS Country Chili Cookoff ROCKED!!! We got there late and missed Trick Pony, but we were just in time for Craig Morgan. Next up was Van Zant, oh my gosh they were so awesome!!! They didn't beat Skynyrd of course, but they came close enough. They played almost the entire country album, as well as Sweet Home Alabama, Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, and Red White & Blue. We were about 250 feet from the stage, to the right, under a giant tree. The roots were a pain to sit on, and people kept walking all over us to get over the small hill we were on, but other than that it was an awesome view!
I was still getting over my cold then and had a bad cough, but it improved enough so that I could scream like a howler monkey and sing along to every single song!! Of course, that really irritated my cough and I could hardly speak all day Monday... Gretchen Wilson was on after Van Zant, how much do I adore her!!! She did all of her best songs, and even threw in a bit of Jimi Hendrix. Keith Urban was next, I loved him too! He was awesome, but we decided to leave during his set to beat the crowd. Not only that, the friends we were with had to get going, and we were all tired anyway. On the way out, we stopped by a vendor that was selling hats and I got a lovely "tea-stained" brown straw cowgirl hat. It has a black chord around it with black, tooth-shaped beads around the front. I like it much better than my white hat - it's a better contrast to my skin coloring, and matches my eyes. It's more Native American style too, with the beads and all.
Reguarding my stupid internet connection, I tried once again to hook up the stuff Earthlink sent me, but it turns out I need a phone jack in here after all. ARGH. Dad's going to install one for me, hopefully in the next couple days. I hooked the retarded cable modem back up and it's working fairly well now. When I called Earthlink it was very confusing. I spoke to two guys with either Middle Eastern Indian or Arab accents. Nothing against them, they were very kind and tried to help, but I couldn't understand what the crap they were saying half the time. Anybody applying for a job answering phones to help people shouldn't be allowed to have a thick accent like that. The only thing I was able to determine from my call was that I do, indeed, need a phone jack in here. Even though I was told I wouldn't, since we got a wireless router. *siiiiiiiigh* Three people told me a bunch of different things, but when I hooked the modem up to the phone jack in the other room, it seemed to work, so hopefully when I get a jack in here, it'll work then. I'm confusing myself just typing this. Nobody I spoke to seemed to get it that we don't have a phone jack in the room that the computer is in. Plain and simple! So the guy finally understood and told me to take the computer in the other room. ...............easier said, than done, buddy.
I'll end this post with an intriguing photo of mushrooms.
